Not sure if he was ready to paint I bought him his own water painting book. I love these -- the colours and pictures appear using little water paint brushes and they disappear once the page dries. With minimal mess- besides small puddles of water.
So he was happy with this... For a while. So I gave the kids a shallow Tupperware lid and a couple different shaped sponges and paint brushes and let them "paint" with water. This has been my sons favourite art project by far. He would say dip dip dip dip and dunk his sponge in the water then smush it on the paper.
My three year old daughter also had a ton of fun. But I wouldn't recommend doing this on a brand new oak table or anything remotely nice as there was a fair amount of water on the table once they were finished. This would also be great at an outside picnic table.
But the kids sure had a lot of fun doing this project. Here are the kids finished water paintings, we would re use the construction paper once it was dry.
What art project do you and your kids enjoy doing??
Love this idea! Monkey loves painting and we go through so much paper etc, whereas this feels a lot less wasteful as you can reuse the paper! Thanks for sharing! X #letkidsbekids

ReplyDeletePainting is good fun and sponging is a good way to introduce little ones to it. Great idea.
